I immediately squealed when I heard the news. Chica was going home! Now I tend to get attached to our long time dogs here at the SPCA, that’s just me. But Chica was something special; despite being in and out of our shelter for a few years, and despite her behavior problems, she has wiggled, slobbered, and charmed her way into so many staff and volunteer’s hearts. Although I will miss her, I am so proud that she had such a positive energy even though she has been thru so much. And finally, that energy found her the perfect home! We love you Chica!!!!!!

Insta Family. Meet 2 lovely dogs Danielle & Suzette.
“We are dependent on supporting each other, so please consider adopting us together. Our owners lost their home and couldn’t take care of us any more, so here we are waiting for the owner that will provide us with a safe loving home. We are very social and love everybody. Kids and other dogs too. We are housetrained and enjoy quiet time, toys and walks. People describe us as lap loving, social butterflies, curious, active and playful. We are a super addition to a family that is ready to love us. Please stop by and say hello. The SPCA is open everyday.”

Happy Tale of Andy – a Happy Tail!

“Last summer we adopted Andy, our Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. After much effort on both of our parts to see the adoption through following his traumatic jaw surgery, he has become one of the most beloved members of our family. He is also quite fond of his two tiny Chihuahua companions. He loves his new Verdi home and thrills at chasing the deer out of the yard and is very good at that task. He is now healthy, happy and is an excellent walking companion.
Thank you for the humanitarian efforts at SPCA in helping animals. Thank you for helping Andy and all of the other animals you rescue. I would also like to thank the Veterinary Specialist (Sierra Veterinary Specialists) who repaired Andy’s Jaw.”

Meet the SPCA Volunteers of the Month!
This grandmother and grandson team has been as asset to the feline department with their dedication to the cause. Tyler’s attitude was the 1st thing that staff members noticed about him aside from his gentle nature with the cats in the colonies. His ‘roll up the sleeves’ demeanor is much appreciated throughout the shelter and have come in handy on more than one occasion. Both have recently completed 30 hours and were presented their volunteer tee-shirt by the staff of SPCA.
His grandmother, Sally, has been a dedicated volunteer who makes sure that Tyler comes to the shelter everyone Monday to socialize with the cats. Now that they’ve completed dog training, they will be able to apply their compassion and love of animals to both sides of the shelter.
